OK, I complied a bunch of videos from our 2007 top 20. If the actual track was available (in a half-way decent video), it was included. Overall, there is at least one video for each of the 20 artists represented here. If you've never watched Jason Murphy of LCD Soundsystem live, I suggest you start there. It's straight from EMI and plugged into the sound board. Enjoy. Oh, and by the way, I had to change the template so the player would fit. Hope you're all cool wit' dat. Did I also mention Annie Clark is my new girlfriend?

BI9 Track List and Songs
Here are the goods everyone. Please contact me if you have any trouble with the files. I did not modify the tags on the original song files. You will need to create your own play list to match the spreadsheet order. If anybody knows of a better way I could have done this, I'm open to suggestions. The zip is rather large so be patient (I may edit this to be one track at a time - or offer both). The total run time is 78:58 so it will fit on a CD. Enjoy.

state of the biz
In the Guardian today a pretty thorough article on the state of the music business.
It does not cease to amaze me how rapacious the industry has been in the past, not sure if that justifies theft but I do feel better that the artists seem to be gaining more control over their business affairs as the major labels struggle.

BI 9 Video Comp Idea
Hey fellas - One idea bouncing around in my head is to compile a post of a video for each song on the 2007 comp. You can cut and paste the Embed HTML from YouTube right into the post (as I have done for this one). I know we have other odds and ends to clean-up first but I think this could be cool.
That said, here is the Radiohead Scotch Mist video I was telling you guys about.

last night a dj...
In the past, we've just gone with a freeform free-for-all when deciding what gets played at the party. Any interest in blocking out time for each of us? Either 30 min or 1 hour slots? I also have a bleary recollection of bringing this idea up during the Gloggfest going so far as to offer a slot to an outsider (Jeffrey). I still think the idea works, each person has the "decks" so to speak for a time and can focus on playing stuff that they want to be considered for the comp. If we do 2 x 30 minutes then this focus on compilation songs could be shifted to the 2nd block with the first block being more freeform? In the end its an idea to give everyone a crack at highlighting their favs from the year, thoughts?
Also, probably a good time to remind everyone to bring clean copies of their top 20.
